General Surgery

What is a General Surgery?

Depending on your needs, this can range from removing diseased organs to repairing hernias or treating reflux with advanced treatments.

Who is General Surgery Best For?

General surgery is best for patients with conditions that cannot be effectively managed with medication or lifestyle changes alone.

The Surgery

Help & Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Is general surgery always done with large incisions?

No. Dr. Pastrana performs many operations laparoscopically or robotically through small incisions, which can mean less pain, fewer scars, and quicker recovery compared to traditional open surgery

What conditions does Dr. Pastrana commonly treat?

He treats gallbladder disease, hernias, thyroid and parathyroid problems, stomach and intestinal issues, colon and rectal disease, breast conditions, and reflux, as well as performing endoscopy and colonoscopy to detect ulcers, tumors, polyps, and colon cancer

How does Dr. Pastrana treat acid reflux?

Depending on the cause and severity, treatment may include hiatal hernia repair, Nissen or Toupet fundoplication, or a specialized endoscopic procedure called Stretta that delivers radiofrequency energy to the lower esophageal sphincter to reduce reflux.

What is a lipoma and does it need surgery?

A lipoma is a noncancerous, slow‑growing lump of fatty tissue that usually feels soft and moves easily under the skin. Many lipomas are harmless and can simply be monitored, but surgery may be recommended if the lump is painful, growing, bothersome in appearance, or pressing on nearby structures.
